Volunteers play a vital role in our mission. Many of the individuals served at Black Hills Workshop have the desire and skills to participate in educational, recreational and leisure activities, but they need resources, friends and support to accomplish these goals.

Volunteer opportunities are as varied as the interests of the individuals we serve. Here are some possibilities:
 

• Church volunteers accompany individuals to church and church social functions.
• Vocational and residential volunteers assist staff in teaching vocational or living skills.
• Sports volunteers assist with Special Olympics, or individualized athletic activities such as swimming, weight lifting, aerobic classes or basketball.
• One-to-one volunteers share time with someone with common interests.
• Correspondence volunteers give people who have little family contact the pleasure of receiving cards and letters in the mail.
• Specialized volunteers share their unique talents and interests with others, such as reading, cooking, computer activities, gardening, photography, art, hiking spectator sports, and assist with annual events such as holiday parties and Fishing Has No Boundaries.
