Black Hills Workshop receives National Recognition for Quality
The Black Hills Workshop received a three-year accreditation, the maximum available, from The Council on Quality and Leadership on April 30. The Council provides accreditation, monitoring, evaluation, training, and consultation to human service organizations world-wide. Black Hills Workshop provides services and supports to more than 500 people with a variety of disbilities.
The Workshop voluntarily underwent intense review by The Council during the last week of April. Council consulants examined the systems the Workshop has in place to deliver services and also interviewed
individuals about their satisfaction with the services they receive from the Workshop.
Some parents and employees were also interviewed. Cheif Executive Officer Dennis Popp said, "The Workshop met all standards in the areas of health, safety, legal and fiscal responsibilities. We scored higher than national averages in many areas." He added that, "The accreditation isn't about one week; it's the result of the effort all our staff put in day after day, week after week, to serve and support people with disabilities. We can all be very proud."
